Whiplash is a sudden acceleration/deceleration injury from a road traffic accident or from trauma in sport. Symptoms after a whiplash can cause, stiffness, pain, headache, weakness, pins and needles and often make you feel very emotional.
The various symptoms from whiplash can often commence several weeks after the injury. It is better to have had an X ray prior to commencing physiotherapy to check for any bone fractures.
It is then important to receive treatment to reduce pain and restore movement and leave no long term disability. Treatment such as soft tissue massage, joint mobilisations and postural advice and exercise can all help with this. Ultra sound and acupuncture is effective in pain relief and relaxation.
